Astro (Korean: 아스트로 ) is a Due south Korean boy band formed by Fantagio that debuted in 2016.[1] The grouping is equanimous of six members: MJ, Jinjin, Cha Eun-woo, Moon Bin, Rocky and Yoon San-ha.[2] They debuted with the single "Hide & Seek" from their debut EP Bound Upward, and were subsequently named by Billboard every bit 1 of the best new K-pop groups of 2016.[3]

Pre-debut [edit]
The members of Astro were known equally iTeen Boys while training as part of Fantagio iTeen, a rookie talent development program under the direction agency Fantagio. The grouping'south name and members were announced in August 2015.[4] That month, they starred in a web drama series titled To Be Continued.[5] The spider web drama featured the members every bit themselves, as well as Kim Sae-ron, Seo Kang-joon, and Hello Venus.[6]

Their 2nd extended play Summer Vibes was released on July 1.[thirteen] The album peaked at #6 on the Billboard Earth Albums Chart and #21 on the Billboard Earth Digital Songs Chart.[14]
Astro performed at Staples Middle in Los Angeles on July 31 for KCON 2016.[15] They held their get-go solo concert on Baronial 27–28 at the KEPCO Art Heart in Seoul.[16] The grouping likewise held showcases in Japan, Indonesia, and Thailand throughout the months of October and Nov.[17] [eighteen]

2017: Winter Dream, Dream Part.01, and Dream Function.02 [edit]
On February 22, Astro released special anthology Winter Dream, featuring title track "Should Have Held On (Again)". Despite the album being the final piece to the group'due south seasonal album concept, it was not promoted on music shows.[twenty]
On May 29, Astro released their fourth extended play Dream Part.01, featuring title track "Baby".[21] The group held their beginning tour, titled "The 1st ASTROAD", from July 15 – Baronial 29, with dates in Seoul, Osaka, and Tokyo.[22]
On November 1, Astro released their fifth extended play Dream Part.02 featuring the title track "Crazy Sexy Cool". [23] On January 10, 2018, the group released a limited edition of their album Dream Part.02 'Wish' version which sold out all 10,000 copies in pre-orders alone. The special album contains a verse form past member Eun-woo, a hidden 'Thank you to', and polaroid photos which the members took themselves.[24]
2018: Rise Upwards and group hiatus [edit]
On July 24, Astro released special mini album Rise Up featuring title track "Always You lot". The album was not promoted on music programs due to internal problems at their label, Fantagio.[25] Still, the group toured cities such as Nagoya, Osaka, and Tokyo throughout August 2018.[26]
2019: All Dark, Venus, Bluish Flame, and Moon Bin'due south hiatus [edit]
On January 16, they released their first total-length album, the start album release in general following their 8-month period hiatus, All Light featuring the title rail "All Night". On November 12, Fantagio Music announced that Moon Bin would be going on a hiatus to recover from wellness issues and focus on his treatment.[32] On November 20, Astro released their sixth extended play Blueish Flame featuring title runway of the same proper noun.[33]
Moon Bin focused on recovery from mental health concerns, assuasive him to have a break from group promotions every bit parts were re-distributed temporarily to other members. Despite this, he participated in the album and appeared in the music video for Blueish Flame.[34]

On August 14, Fantagio confirmed that Moon Bin and Yoon San-ha would form Astro'south first sub-unit of measurement called Moonbin & Sanha.[41] On September 14, 2020, they released their first extended play In-Out, with the title track "Bad Idea". On Apr 14, the group received their second music show trophy for "One" on Show Champion. On Apr 15, they took their last win for "I" on M Countdown, which was their showtime-ever win on the music show equally well as their sixth win overall.[45] On June x, All Yours is certified platinum on Gaon and All Yours is the first Astro album to get certified on Gaon.[46]
