Many people assume that cars with the best acceleration, the best zero to 60 car times, come with hefty price tags. And while this is often the case, it isn't always true. Here are 10 car models with great zero to 60 acceleration times, some for high-end budgets and others for used car rates.

2001 Chevrolet Corvette

With prices starting at around $12,500, the 2001 Chevy Corvette is excellent value for money. Not only can you say you drive a Corvette, but it also comes with a bracing V8 engine, stylish convertible top and a zero to 60 time of four-point-seven seconds.

2015 Porsche 918 Spyder

Here's one from the other end of the budgetary spectrum. The 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder is far from the cheapest car on this list (if you have to ask how much, you probably can't afford it), but it does zero to 60 in just two-and-a-half seconds.

2000 Jaguar XJR

This sporty sedan with a classic feel can be found used for about $9,500. Timeless British style and luxury have allowed this car to retain its class for almost 20 years. And it reaches 60 mph from zero in a respectable four-and-six-tenths seconds.

2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S (991.2)

Like the Spyder, this Porsche achieves a zero to 60 time of two-and-a-half seconds. This is largely thanks to its powerful all-wheel drive and dual-clutch gearbox. Accelerating in a straight line, it doesn't even seem to exert itself.

At about $15,000 used, the Volkswagen Golf R offers plenty of bang for your buck. It's a reliable model too, with a decent interior and nice styling. It's no wonder the Golf has a cult following. 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante

Another model with all-wheel drive and speedy dual-clutch transmission, the Performante has Pirelli Trofeo R tires. With its V10 engine, it blasts from zero to 60 in a breathtaking two-and-six-tenths seconds. But that may not be surprising for a Lamborghini.

Of the budget car models on this list, the 2006 BMW M3 is undoubtedly also the fastest; it accelerates from zero to 60 in four-point-four seconds, as reported by 0-60 Specs. It's stylish too, and a firm favorite of BMW enthusiasts. And you might pick one up for little more than $11,500 used.

2014 Ferrari LaFerrari

Shockingly expensive, this model is the flagship of Ferrari's fleet. You won't see many on the road — if indeed you ever see any. But if you do, prepare to be amazed. The 2014 LaFerrari has a zero to 60 time of two-point-four seconds and can take a quarter-mile in nine-point-seven seconds, as tested by Road and Track.
